In the third year of a renewed commitment, the organisers of the LGBT+ Pride Parade in Auckland have announced a date for next year’s Parade. The 2022 Rainbow Parade will take place on Saturday 19 February 2022.
Rainbow Pride Auckland is committed to restoring the parade to its former glory, with the return of motorised floats for the first time in four years. Auckland prides itself as a city that embraces diversity. Pride parades continue to be a celebration of inclusion and unity creating a platform of acceptance, understanding and tolerance.
“We’re absolutely excited to announce that the Rainbow Pride Parade will take place on the weekend of February 19. For the first time since Rainbow Pride Auckland re-established the Parade, we will welcome the addition of motorised floats making this coming year the biggest, loudest and proudest to date.”
In March 2021, 15,000 people came together to celebrate the Rainbow Pride Parade, one of the few LGBT+ events globally to go ahead during the global pandemic. Given the effects of the Covid-19 measures: mental health, family dis-association, domestic violence, and social isolation are more widely reported within the rainbow community and beyond. Now more than ever, the parade is a beacon of hope for all voices to be heard.
